Does Pumpkin Spice Make Everything Nice?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]If you thought you were odd for liking pumpkin-flavored foods, think again. This infographic is proof that pumpkin spice does make things nice.

Good old pumpkin pie filling still dominates market share, with $ 135 million in 2014 sales. But other innovative products are gaining ground, with (pumpkin-flavored) dog food sitting in a surprising sixth place.

Many of us would think long and hard before committing to pumpkin-flavored anything. It sounds a tad bit risky, right?

However, the orange gourd has seen its fan base grow exponentially over the last decade. According to this infographic by ABZ Creative Partners, the search term “pumpkin spice” has seen a 1023% increase on Google since 2004, with sales of pumpkin-flavored products rising 79 percent since 2011.

One particular “pumpkinnovation”, Starbucks’ signature Pumpkin Spice Latte, seems to have hit a sweet spot. With over 200 million lattes sold since its launch in 2003, it is now widely recognized as the company’s most popular seasonal beverage. A delicate blend of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, infused in vanilla-espresso steamed milk, and topped with whipped cream and a light sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice – Pumpkinheads vouch that this fall favorite tastes “soOoOoo much better than it sounds!”.

After proving itself in coffee, pumpkin spice has made great leaps, reaching as far as pet food. We can only imagine what the future holds for this unique flavor. Will the craze continue or will it all come crashing down? No matter what happens, one thing is certain – the giant orange squash will always be known for its exceptional performance in baked pies.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=”Make Your Own Delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte” font_container=”tag:h4|text_align:left|color:%23004cff” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Why hit up Starbucks when you can make your very own delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte at home?! Here’s how you do it (for 1 serving):

  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, whisk 1/2 cup milk along with some pumpkin spice (powdered, as listed below), sugar and vanilla extract.
  2. Simmer for 4-6 minutes, then whisk in another 1/2 cup of milk.
  3. Continue to whisk for 3-4 minutes while gradually adding espresso to the foaming mixture… and you’re done!

Tip: Want to get fancy? Incorporate a small amount of pumpkin puree in step 1 to enrich the flavor and texture of your latte. Prior to step 2, use a fine sieve to remove any pulp from the mixture.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Grab Your Own: Splendor Garden Organic Pumpkin Pie Spice (35g)” font_container=”tag:h4|text_align:left|color:%23004cff” use_theme_fonts=”yes” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.ca%2Fgp%2Fproduct%2FB00RJS8M9C%2Fref%3Das_li_ss_tl%3Fie%3DUTF8%26camp%3D15121%26creative%3D390961%26creativeASIN%3DB00RJS8M9C%26linkCode%3Das2%26tag%3Dinfogradata05-20||target:%20_blank”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]— Added to the IgDb  (>>Source)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
