The Gist Of This Infographic
In September of 2015, Heads of State and Governments all over the world came together to adopt the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Developed by the United Nations’ Division for Sustainable Development (DSD), the agenda is essentially an action plan that aims to stimulate permanent sustainable solutions in areas of critical importance to our people and planet.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 associated targets all attest to the scale and audacity of this universal agenda. While 2030 may seem like an unrealistic deadline, it puts the right amount of pressure on all of us. The UN wants the world to understand and acknowledge the seriousness of global issues like poverty, climate change, inequality and injustice.
The only sure way to effect permanent positive change at a global scale within a relatively short period of time is by working together towards a common set of goals i.e. UN’s 17 SDGs. Review these 17 sustainable development goals on the right and think about what you can do to help your planet achieving them.
