Founded in November 2015, The Infographics Database (IgDb) is a community-driven content aggregation website that curates high-quality infographic images from all over the web. Our goal is to create a central archive of well-described, searchable infographics that delivers relevant and reliable visual information to its users.
Our home base is located in the Greater Toronto Area, in the beautiful province of Ontario, Canada. From here we are constantly on the lookout for the most beautiful and informative infographic images that the web has to offer. However, we can’t do this alone.
Our Infographics Submission Form allows content creators and internet users to contribute directly to IgDb. Help us grow our database by submitting infographics that you find on the web. Put your blogger hat on and fill out our submission thoroughly. Thank you for your contributions! With your help, we hope to grow the website into an all-encompassing community-driven database of infographic images.
What are Infographics?
Infographics are visual representations of information and/or data, usually composed of a combination of graphs, diagrams, charts, pictures and text. Research has shown that people tend to understand and grasp visual information much more quickly and easily. Visualized data is also more likely to be remembered; as a result, it is a much more effective means of conveying information in most situations. The concept of infographics have been around for a while, but infographic design and distribution has only recently become popular in the online and social media space.
Nowadays, we have access to many easy-to-use websites and software applications that allow us to create and consume all kinds of infographics. In addition, social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram and Flickr have made it easier for us to discover infographic images from all over the web, and share them with people all over the world. Infographics are thus widely regarded as the 2.0 of information sharing.
